DID YOU KNOW

That The Mineral Calcium…..

  • makes and keeps bones hard and strong?

  • helps prevent the bone-thinning disease, osteoporosis?

  • helps your heart, nerves, and muscles work well?

  • helps prevent high blood pressure in certain groups of people?

  • may lower the risk for kidney stones in certain people?

  • is found mainly in the dairy foods milk, cheese, and yogurt?

 

 

TROUBLE GETTING ENOUGH CALCIUM INTO KIDS AND TEENS?

 

o       Add cheese to sandwiches and burgers.

o       Sprinkle dried milk into casseroles, sauces and bread recipes.

o       Mix a flavoring like strawberry into milk.

o       Make pudding and custards with milk for dessert.

o       Reach for chocolate milk instead of a soft drink.

o       Order milk instead of soft drinks in kiddie fast food meals.
