Anthony Madison graduated from Thomasville High School in 2001. He continued his education at The University of Alabama where he started for the Crimson Tide football team for 3 years. Anthony graduated from UA with a degree in Marketing. The end of Anthony's college career did not mark the end of his football career. He has now been with the Pittsburgh Steelers organization for 3 years. This year, he led the Steelers team in Special Teams Tackles and finished 3rd in the entire NFL for Special Teams Tackles. On February 1, 2009, he became Thomasville's very first Super Bowl Champion. Because of all of his achievements, the City of Thomasville decided to honor him. Thursday, February 19, 2009, was declared Anthony Madison Day. Anthony came and spoke to the students at the high school and middle school about how he got to this point in his life. He talked about environment, work ethic, attitude, and his faith, among other things. At the Chamber of Commerce Banquet Thursday night, Coach Jack Hankins announced that the Thomasville Tigers were retiring his jersey -- #7. Among the guests at the banquet were some of Anthony's former Alabama teammates -- Eric Gray, Brandon Brooks, Kyle Bennett, and Roman Harper, who currently plays for the New Orleans Saints. Anthony has been such a blessing and inspiration to many people. He is a wonderful role model for our students, and they had a great time hearing him speak. **Photos and article by Lauren Ault
