Federal Programs

Thomasville City Schools receives Federal funds from the following programs:

bulletTitle I, Part A - Improving Academic Achievement of the Disadvantaged
bulletTitle II, Part A - Improving Teacher Quality
bulletTitle IV, Part A- Safe and Drug-Free Schools
bulletTitle V, Part A- Innovative Programs
bulletTitle VI, Part B - Rural Education

These Title funds are used to supplement the State funded programs and are not to be used to replace them.  This year TCS was able to hire one teacher unit at the elementary school to reduce class-size.  An Advisory Committee, made up school and Central Office administrators, teachers, program supervisors, and parents convene annually to discuss and plan expenditures to utilize funds.  

Parents Right-to-Know

 At the beginning of each school year, each school that receives Title I funds shall notify parents that they have the right to request, and the school will provide in a timely manner, information regarding the the professional qualifications of the student's classroom teachers, including, at a minimum, the following:

bulletWhether the teacher has met state qualification and licensing criteria for the grade level and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction.
bulletWhether the teacher is teaching under emergency or other provisional status through which State qualification or licensing criteria have been waived.
bulletThe baccalaureate degree major of the teacher and any other graduate certification or degree held by the teacher, and the field of discipline of the certification or degree.
bulletWhether the child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications.

Providing this information is a parental right under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.
