  • Robin Maroney is an eleventh grade English teacher.  Ms. Maroney received an associate of arts degree from Enterprise State Junior College.  Her undergraduate degree as well as her Masters degree was earned from Livingston University.
  • Ms. Maroney graduated from T.H.S. in 1981 and is pleased to have been employed with Thomasville City Schools for the past 20 years.  
  • She is married to Hub Maroney and has two daughters, Anna 20 years old and Holston 16 years old.

 COURSE DESCRIPTION

 

English 11 will provide opportunities for the student to learn to communicate thoughts in an organized, coherent form.  It will review and teach, when appropriate, the skills necessary to pass the Alabama High School Exit Examination.  Students will study major American authors and their writings, reading four novel length works.

Composition:  Journal Writing, Paragraph Skills, Play Review, Vocabulary Study, Essay   

                       Writing

 

Grammar Review

       Inclusive of Alabama Graduation Exam material

 

 

 

 

 

GRADING POLICY

 

                Vocabulary grades will be combined for twenty per cent of your average.

                 Composition/Literature grades will be counted as major test grades unless  

                 otherwise specified as daily work.  These will be worth seventy per cent.

                 Daily work will be combined for ten per cent of your average.

 

CLASSROOM RULES

  1. Bring needed materials to class.
  2. Be in your seat and ready to begin when the bell rings.
  3. Be respectful and be polite to others.
  4. Speak at appropriate times, using appropriate voice and language.
  5. Respect other people’s property.
  6. Follow all school rules.

Course Description;

 

Honors English 9 will consist of a thorough study of grammar and writing skills.  Vocabulary and spelling exercises will be included.  The study of literature will appropriately be emphasized.
