Thomasville High School
The Thomasville High School band division is divided into two categories: marching band and concert band. The Band Director is Mr. J. Allen, and this is his first year at Thomasville High School. Marching Band Marching band is an exciting and fun experience for a students at THS. Marching band takes place during the fall semester of school, where the band attends all the football games. This band also attends parades and competitions; examples are the Christmas parade, Mardi Gras parade, and Gordo Marching Band Competition. Marching band includes the other divisions such as Dance Team and Color Guard, as well. If a student becomes a part of this band, they will have to pay a band fee, and attend band camp, which takes place during the end of the summer. Students that have been in band, or are currently in band, think that it's a great extracurricular activity for any student interested in music.
In 2007, the THS band attended several events, including: -Christmas Parade in Thomasville, AL -Clarke County's Christmas Parade in Grove Hill, AL -Jackson's Christmas Parade in Jackson, AL -Gordo Marching Band Competition in Gordo, AL -Mardi Gras Parade in Mobile, AL
Concert Band Concert band takes place during the spring semester of school. It consists of woodwind, bass, and percussion instruments. Concert band performs light, classical music and tunes. This type of band can perform many concerts for its community.
