**What is Cooperative Education?

  - It is a structured component of the Career/ Technical Education curriculum in which students attend classes part of the day and work part of the day.

**Eligibility Requirements

> Seniors must have completed one Agriscience or Business/Marketing course and able to obtain employment in desired pathway

Or

>Juniors must have completed two Agriscience or Business/Marketing courses in a career pathway sequence, and be able to obtain employment directly related to stated career objective

And

> Be at least sixteen years of age and have successfully completed the tenth grade.

> Not be deficient on the Alabama High School Graduation Exam or be deficient in required courses except for a student with disabilities (IEP).

** How to Apply.........

~ Fill out a co-op application and personal data sheet (located in office and   outside of Room 204)

~ Return It completed to Room 204

Aptitude for the Career

Interest in learning the skills for the career

Physical qualifications

Attitude of parents toward cooperative education

School records on attendance and discipline

Comments from teacher-coordinator and counselors

Recommendations from a minimum of three teachers

 

**What if I am accepted but don't have a job?

Students will be enrolled in another course until the student has gained employment at a bona-fide training station. After gaining employment, the student can go to work during 4th block.

 

A little bit of extra info.....

Students who co-op must take the class called Coordinated Studies. (It can be taken before or while you are in co-op)

After completing Coordinated Studies, the student must attend a Coordinated Studies seminar once a week, during 4th block.
