National Honor Society

The National Honor Society ranks as one of the oldest and most prestigious national organizations for high school students. Chapters exist in more than sixty percent of the nation's high schools, and Thomasville High School is proud to be one of those schools. National Honor Society members are chosen for and then expected to continue their exemplary contributions to the school and community. The National Honor Society member is a student of character, a leader, and a student who serves the school and community.

Membership in the National Honor Society is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a high school student. Character, leadership, service, and scholarship are the four ideals that are considered as a basis for selection. No student is inducted simply because of high academic average. The National Honor Society strives to recognize the total student: one who excels in all of these areas.

Character: The student of character takes criticism willingly and accepts recommendations graciously, upholds principles of morality and ethics, and demonstrates the highest standards of honesty and reliability.

Leadership: The student who exercises leadership is resourceful in applying principles and exemplifies positive attitudes.

Service: The student who serves volunteers dependable and well-organized assistance willingly, works well with others, and cheerfully renders requested service to the school.

Scholarship: The student who exercises scholarship demonstrates academic initiative and upholds all academic requirements of the National Honor Society.
