- 1. The Alabama state course of study shall be
followed in meeting the minimum program requirements for each course.
- 2. Students must pass all three sections of the
Alabama High School Basic Skills Exit Exam. Students who entered the
ninth grade during the 1997-1998 school year and thereafter must pass the
Alabama High School Graduation Exam.
- 3. Students must be enrolled on a full-time
basis. Every student must take 8 classes each year. Fifth year
seniors with special needs will be considered on an individual basis.
- 4. Students are required to take a math,
English, science, and social studies course each year.
- 5. Students may not receive summer school credit
for courses required for the Alabama High School Diploma with Advanced
Academic Endorsement.
- 6. English and social studies must be taken in
sequential order. (Students must successfully complete English 9 before
taking English 10.)
- 7. Students may not receive credit for the same
academic course twice.
- 8. Students must declare their proposed diploma
program (standard or advanced) at the beginning of the ninth grade year.
In order to change a diploma program, the student and parent must sign a
form stating their intentions to change the student's diploma program.
- 9. The total number of credits earned determines
homeroom placement. The number of credits required for homeroom
placement is as follows:
- 10th grade homeroom - 7 credits
- 11th grade homeroom - 15 credits
- 12th grade homeroom - 22 credits
