Mr. Terry Norton, Principal Thomasville Middle School
Morning Announcements
The entire staff of Thomasville Middle School would like to welcome all new and returning students. We, at Thomasville Middle School, want to give you every opportunity to learn and to continue to grow in a pleasant, educational environment. Please read through our website carefully. It contains basic information about school policies, including attendance policies, the student code of conduct, the dress code, and bus rules. The school standards will be consistently enforced in order that each student may have an equal opportunity for full personal achievement in a safe and orderly environment. We hope that you will be proud to be a middle level Tiger or Tiger parent and that you will take advantage of the many opportunities for discovery and learning and will participate in many of the activities which will be available for you at T.M.S. Parents, we look forward to your continued support and participation in our school. We invite you to call the school at 334-636-4928 with any questions or concerns you may have. Our Mission Our mission at Thomasville Middle School is to provide a safe environment, to foster the positive development of all students, and to model the behaviors of a confident, self-directed, life-long learner.
Parents, Now that TMS is an Alabama Reading Initiative site, we hope you see your children bringing home and reading many books. Please remember, as parents you both have the right and responsibility to monitor your child's reading material. Within our Accelerated Reader program, your child has been given a recommended "zone" that corresponds with his reading ability. Our library provides a large selection of books at the various reading levels from which your child may choose. You may have noticed that some of the library books your children bring home have colored dots on the spine. These colors represent the reading level of the book - how difficult the words are. The colors do not in any way relate to the interest level of the book. Our Accelerated Reader program requirements are not so rigid that your child will suffer academically if he rejects a book before finishing it. If at anytime you or your child are offended by the content of a library book, the student has the right to return the book and make another selection. The library continues to purchase books that are award winners or are well-received by children's or young adult literary magazines. The library takes very seriously these key messages for school libraries as outlined by the American Library Association:
Thank
you,
