Mr. Garth Moss is a native of Reform, Alabama in Pickens County. He graduated from Pickens County High School in Reform, Alabama. Mr. Moss attended the University of Alabama where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education. He attended the University of West Alabama where he obtained his Master’s degree in Educational Administration. Mr. Moss has been an educator for thirty one years, and has served his entire career within the state of Alabama.
As a teacher, Mr. Moss worked at Brookwood High School and Hillcrest High School in Tuscaloosa County for four years, Pickens County High School in Pickens County for three years, and South Lamar High School in Lamar County for seven years. During his teaching career, he served as head baseball coach, head football coach, basketball coach, and softball coach.
Mr. Moss also served in various administrative positions during his career. He served as Assistant Principal at Pickens County High School and South Lamar School. He served as Principal at South Lamar School and Lamar County High School. During his years in Lamar County, he also served as Career Technical Director, Federal Programs Director, and Superintendent.
Mr. Moss is married to his wife, Angie, who is a retired high school English teacher and school counselor. They have a son, Brooks Moss, who is a high school science teacher in Lamar County; a daughter, Peyton Moss, who is currently in graduate school; and a daughter-in-law, Shelley Moss, who is Director of Admissions at Mississippi University for Women.
