TES student suspended for bringing firearm to school

By Barry H. Hendrix

The administration at Thomasville Elementary School received reports from four students today, Sept. 26, who stated that a fellow male student had brought a BB pistol to campus on Sept. 20.
“The situation is under control,” said Garth Moss, superintendent of the Thomasville City Schools District, and the student identified has been removed from classes. The incident was investigated by school officials, and information has been turned over to the Thomasville Police Department.
The student in question will remain out of school pending a hearing on the matter by the Thomasville City Board of Education.
“Student safety is the utmost priority at Thomasville City Schools,’ Moss said, and students are encouraged to tell school officials when they see something suspicious.
