Ron Brown Scholar Program - application deadline Jan. 9, 2021

The Ron Brown Scholar Program is increasing the number of scholarship awards by 25 to include between 45 and 50 new Ron Brown Scholars for the entering class of 2021. We're excited to share this news with you and hope you'll encourage talented young African-American students to apply to the Ron Brown Scholar Program this year.
In addition to the new scholarships, we will as always continue the Ron Brown Captain's Program which includes the top students applying regardless of income to be included in our cohort and to be part of our Leaders Network (which is a program created to assist talented young people with finding internships while in college). No additional application is required for consideration to this program. Information about our three signature programs is attached below.
A few things to note for this years' process, due to the COVID-19 pandemic:
While our preference is to receive applications by mail (Ron Brown Scholar Program, 485 Hillsdale Drive, Suite 206, Charlottesville, VA 22901), if students are having any difficulty submitting their applications, they may be submitted by email to:  [email protected]
Recommendation letters may also be submitted by email to [email protected] without penalty if they cannot be included with the student materials. Transcripts and recommendations given to students in sealed envelopes for inclusion with their materials is acceptable.
If a student did not take the SAT or ACT last spring, they will not be penalized. If a student did take the standardized tests, we ask that they submit those scores on page 1 of the application.
Our final application deadline is a postmarked deadline of Jan. 9, 2021.
Semifinalists will be notified in mid-February.
