My name is Ellen H. Pope. I love mathematics and I love young people. I began my college education by earning an Associate of Science degree from Patrick Henry State Junior College. Next I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education with a double major in Mathematics and History from Livingston University. After a few years, I yearned for more education, so I earned a Master of Arts degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from Livingston University.
I began teaching at Thomasville High School in 1997, and when Thomasville Middle School expanded in 1998, I moved there. Ever hungry for more learning, under the encouragement of then superintendent, Roger D. Speed, I next earned National Board Certification in Early Adolescent Mathematics Education. For eighteen years, I had a wonderful career at Thomasville Middle School, but I needed a new challenge, so I have now come full circle back to Thomasville High School. I am married to Larry, and I have four children, Shelley, Mallory, Larremy, and Jesse, who are all successful Thomasville High School alumni. Shelley and her husband Terry are the parents of my precious granddaughter, Margaret Rae. Mallory’s husband, Bradley, is also a successful Thomasville High School alumnus.
