School employees to receive one-time holiday incentive

The Thomasville City Board of Education approved Dec. 8 a one-time pay incentive of $250 for their continued work while going above and beyond their normal duties during the COVID crisis.
Employees are expected to receive the incentive via direct deposit before Dec. 18.
The school board meeting was held in the Thomasville High School library.
In other action from the Dec. 8 meeting, the board approved an extension on the COVID leave policy for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year. If a school employee is not officially sent home due to symptoms or contact with a someone who is positive, the employee must provide written documentation for approved leave. 
• Avery Ford, chief school financial officer, reported that payroll for October 2020 totaled $791,576.36, and accounts payable totaled $179,222.60.
• The following personnel actions were approved:
(resignations) Patricia Headrick, math teacher at THS, effective Dec. 18;
(employment in position) Carmen Maness, math teacher at THS, effective Jan. 4, 2021.
• The next meeting of the school board is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Jan. 26, 2021 in the Thomasville Civic Center. The meeting will begin with the THS mid-year graduation. Approximately 12 students will graduate that evening.
• The Christmas/New Year’s Holidays break for school employees will be held from Dec. 21, 2020, to Jan. 1, 2021. There will be professional development days on Jan. 4 and 5.
