The THS Independent Reading requirement is assigned to encourage our students to read independently and be exposed to classic literature while making the work relevant to the current curriculum.  Each grade level is assigned a book that is due at the beginning of the semester; advanced classes are responsible for an additional book later in the semester.  All reading is expected to be done by the indicated time, and an initial test will be given.  The Pre-Test grade will be a combination of the initial test grade and the student’s completion of assigned reading guides.  The book will then be taught in class over the next week(s) and a final test (Post-Test) will be given.  In order to complete other assignments, participate in class discussions, and be successful on the required tests, it is crucial that students have completed their required reading.
