The Thomasville High School Tigers varsity football team (1-1) will travel Friday, Sept. 5 to play Class 3A, Region 3 opponent, the Southside Selma High School Panthers (1-0), in Memorial Stadium (7975 Highway 80 East in Selma). Kickoff will be a 7 p.m.
Cash or GoFan will be accepted at the gate.
Southside defeated Selma High School 44-0 in their opening game on the road. “They are super athletic,” said Clint Anderson, THS Head Football Coach. “They always have really good skill guys. It will be a test for us, on both sides of the ball.
“Their defense is always fast to the football. You have to stay on blocks. They get off blocks well.”
Charles Moody Jr. enters his seventh season as the head coach of the Panthers. “They are coached well,” Anderson said. “The players play hard for him.” Southside had an 11-3 record in 2024. They were 5-1 in home games last season, and the Panthers reached the semi-final game in the state playoffs.
Memorial Stadium off Highway 80 in Selma is a difficult place for opposing teams to play. “We are going into a hostile environment. It will not only be a physical test, but a mental test for us as well.”
