The THS Tigers (1-2) will next host Class 3A, Region 3 opponent, the Sumter Central High School Jaguars (0-2), at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12 at D.F. Anderson Field.
Cash or GoFan will be accepted at the gate.
Sumter is a very athletic team, said Clint Anderson, THS Head Football Coach. Gary Sturdivant is in his second year as the Sumter head coach, and the Jaguars should be much improved. “They have always had good athletes, but now they are better coached. …They are going in the right direction.”
This home game “will be an opportunity for us to correct some mistakes, and play at a high level, especially with energy and physicality,” Anderson said. “…We’ve got to continue to get the effort.”
There were a great crowd of Thomasville fans at the road game at Southside Selma, and coach Anderson expects another energetic crowd for this Friday’s home contest to support the young Tiger team. The fans are an essential part of the Thomasville tradition.
“We’ve always had a great fan base here at Thomasville,” he said. “This is one of the communities were it still matters. Over time, it has gotten to where it is less important in some places, but not here in Thomasville. Our fan base is really strong.”
