The Alabama Reading Initiative (ARI) is a statewide K-12 initiative committed to supporting the development of high-quality instruction that will prepare all students wi​th the literacy skills needed to meet or exceed grad​e-level standards. The goal of the ARI is to significantly improve reading instruction and ultimately achieve 100 percent literacy among public school students.​ Approximately 15 reading coaches from surrounding schools gathered March 12 for an ARI meeting in the Thomasville Elementary School Library.

Thomasville Elementary School received a $6,000 contribution March 6 from the Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) mill in Jackson, Ala. The Pre-K program at Thomasville Elementary School will hold an Easter Egg Hunt on Wednesday, March 27. Pre-K students are allowed to dress out in Spring attire.

The THS Beauty Review will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 2 in the Thomasville Civic Center. In addition, the TES Beauty Review will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 1 in the Civic Center. Admission for both events is $10, and tickets are available at the Civic Center Box Office.
