RFP for re-cabling 25-26

Cabling Project 25-26 Q&A:

Q: Is this a Public Works Project/Bid?

A: Yes

Q: Can we get maps of the locations?

A: Maps will be provided at the mandatory walk-through on Thursday., Nov. 13 at 10:30 a.m. in the Central Office Conference Room.

Q: Will patch cords need to be included?

A: Yes - 2 feet

Q: Are 1000 cable runs required or can a more cost effective run be quoted?

A: 200 foot runs may be quoted.

Q: Count of AP's at TMS & TES?

A: 40 at TMS and 45 at TES

Q: Will new conduit need to be run? (REALLY wasn't sure if this was the right wording on this one)

A: Yes, 1/2 inch 

Q: What will most classrooms require?

A: 2 drops plus 1 for the AP

Q: Do patch cables for the end user for each of the drops need to be included? If so, what length?

A: No cables necessary for end users.

Q: Are the existing patch panels already populated with Cat6 jacks? If not, please provide manufacturer and model number.

Q: For the quantity 50 drops at the Central Office, are we just quoting 2 port drops? Or are there any AP drops there?

Q: Which cabling type should vendors quote CAT6 or CAT6A?

A: Cat6

Q: Will any of the (182) Drops at Thomasville ES and (134) Drops at Thomasville MS require any conduit or pandit?  Or will we be utilizing existing pathways for the new drops? 

A: We would like everyone to quote with new conduit just in case some are unusable.

A: 

1. The drops in the classrooms will be duals

 2. The drops in the classrooms will be duals

Q: For the quantity 50 drops at the Central Office, are we just quoting 2 port drops? Or are there any AP drops there?

A: there are 3 total, 2 at central office and 1 at the bus shop.

Q: Can you please confirm what the contractor (vendor) warranty and/or maintenance obligation will be upon completion of the network installation? Typically, we see that contractors are required to warranty their work and agree to make necessary corrections for 1-2 years upon completion of a project.

A: 5 years

Q: Does this quote require plenum or non-plenum Cat6A cable?

A:  We only need Cat6

TECHNOLOGY AT TCS

Thomasville City Schools is proud to be a 21st Century District. We began a 1:1 implementation plan 12 years ago and have not looked back! Below are the resources available to the students of TCS:

TES - 1st - 8th graders each have their own laptop to use at school. These devices are available for check out for class projects and on E-Learning Days. Kindergarten has a set of ipads for centers and other activities. Every classroom has a SmartBoard or Promethean or Viewsonic and  document cameras.
THS -All students, grades 9 - 12, are part of the 1:1 initiative and have 24/7 access to the laptops.
