The current Thomasville City Board of Education includes (standing) Marshall Pritchett, Jim Davis and Taylor Williams; (seated) Tiffany Rodgers-Shamburger, Vickie Morris (school superintendent) and Rita Nichols.

Marshall Pritchett announced Feb. 28 that he will resign from the Thomasville City Board of Education.

He made the announcement at the end of the school board meeting in the Thomasville High School library. Pritchett has served on the school board for 20 years.
“I have enjoyed my service on the board,” he said. “I have worked with some good superintendents and good board members. I appreciate all you have done for the schools.
“I want to pray that we keep our kids first - that they are first on our agenda,” Pritchett said. “We are all about the kids here at Thomasville City Schools.”
The Thomasville City Council will soon appoint a new board member, who will begin to serve at the June 2023 meeting.
In other action from the brief school board meeting, Anjelica Gibson, Chief School Financial Officer, gave a snapshot of the January 2023 Financial Report. Accounts payable totaled $469,573.71, and payroll totaled $939,608.40.

Brandy Jones, Parent Liaison at Thomasville Middle School;

Brandy Jones, Contracted Behavioral Counseling Interventionist Services;
Leighton Luker, Pre-K Auxiliary Teacher at Thomasville Elementary School;
(employment in supplemental positions)
Jimmy Powell, Facilities Manager.
• The board approved the school calendar for the 2023-2024 school year and a new COVID Infection and Exposure protocol for the school system.
• The adopted state textbook list was approved.
• The next school board meeting will be held at 5 p.m. on March 21 in the THS library. The public is invited.
