Thomasville school board 7-8-25

Vickie Morris, Thomasville City School Superintendent, gave the Thomasville City Board of Education July 8 a list of facility improvements, which will likely be completed before classes start on Aug. 7.

The improvements include a secure wall for the lobby of Thomasville High School; water lines to be repaired at THS; culvert improvements at Thomasville Elementary; competition of the Special Needs building at THS; repair of doors at TMS; repainting in the lobby at the Central Office; and plumbing repairs at all three campuses.

In other action from the July 8 meeting, Angelica Gibson, Chief School Financial Officer, gave the financial report for June 2025. Accounts payable totaled $336,475.88, and payroll totaled $895,979.24.

(Board member Taylor Williams abstained from voting on one of the personnel items due to a family connection.)

Leslie Carpenter, transfer from Special Education Teacher at TES to Special Education Teacher at THS;

Bethany Elam, reassigned from Reading Coach at TES to Reading/Math Interventionist at TES;

Jenny Ogle, transfer from Special Education Instructional Aide at TMS to Special Education Teacher at TES;

Linda Anderson, reassigned from Third Grade Teacher at TES to Reading Coach at TES.

 

• Admission passes for groups or individuals to school events during the upcoming school year were approved.

• Child Nutrition Program meal prices were approved for 2025-2026.

• Changes were approved to the Extracurricular Bus Driver Rate; Travel Expense (meals per diem); and Extra Personal Day Substitute Rate.

• The bid for fresh produce and precut prepackaged fresh fruit vegetable products went to Forrestwood Farms, Inc.

• The bid for milk products went to East Side Jersey Dairy, Inc.

• The membership to the Alabama Association of School Boards (AASB) for 2025-2026 was approved at a cost of $3,933.15.

• The school board will have a special called meeting at 5 p.m. on July 22 in the THS library.
