The Thomasville City Board of Education approved Sept. 9 the Fiscal 2026 school system budget. The approval came after the second of two public hearings was held in the Thomasville High School Library.
Total revenues in the budget are projected at $15,737,146.00, and total expenditures are $15,724, 341.00. Forty-four percent of the expenditures go for instructional purposes, and 21 percent of the expenditures go for instructional support. The objectives of the budget are to “fund and protect the classroom,” “control expenses,” and “plan for possible reduction in funds.”
The Thomasville City Schools District is predicted to receive $8,739,100.00 in state “Foundation” funding. Local revenues include $1,649,010.00 in county tax revenue and $163,000.00 in district tax revenue.
The Thomasville school system also will receive $220,000.00 from the Thomasville City Council, $550,000.00 from local sales tax, and $19,000.00 from the local alcohol beverage tax.
Total projected enrollment for 25-26 is approximately 960.95.

• The board approved the school system Textbook Committee for the 2025-2026 school year.
• The next school board meeting will be held at 5 p.m. on Oct. 28 in the THS Library.
