Timothy Lance McDaniel was appointed Dec. 8 to the Thomasville City Board of Education by the Thomasville City Council.

He is the owner of TL Photography, a lifelong resident of Thomasville, and he is a 2004 graduate of Thomasville High School. McDaniel is a graduate of Pensacola State College and currently serves on the Thomasville Parks and Recreation Board.

He is the brother of April Bouler, THS Assistant Principal, and he is married to Gwendalynn McDaniel, a Business Technology teacher at THS.

He will finish out the term of Tiffany Rodgers-Shamburger, who recently resigned. McDaniel will serve the remainder of Shamburger’s term of service through 2027, and he will serve at his first board meeting on Jan. 27, 2026.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve,” McDaniel said. “It is an honor to support our students, our educators, and the mission of Thomasville City Schools. I look forward to working together for the success of every child.”

During a brief Jan. 9 meeting, the school board approved the financial report for November 2025. Accounts payable totaled $337,832.48, and payroll totaled $947,338.68.

• The only personnel action was an approval of a leave request from Shambria Holt, Child Nutrition Manager at Thomasville Elementary School, for an on-the-job injury, effective Nov. 17-19.

• New bleachers have been installed in the Thomasville Middle School gym. The project cost approximately $65,000.

• The school system will be using $93,000 in E-Rate funding to renovate internet wiring and cabling at Thomasville Middle School, Thomasville Elementary School and the Central Office.
