The Thomasville City Board of Education approved Sept. 8 the Fiscal 2027 budget.
Revenues total $15,647,384.00, and expenditures total $15,546,628.00.
The school system is receiving $9,222,380.00 from the state Foundation Program. The funding is based on the average number of students from the previous school year. The local fund match (10 mills) to receive that funding is $717,200.00.
Forty-four percent of expenditures in FY 2027 are being spent on Instructional Services ($6,795,816.00), dealing with the direct interaction between teachers and students. Twenty-one percent ($3,217,933.00) is being spent to facilitate and enhance instruction.
Along with the state Foundation funding, the school system must depend on local revenue, county and district property taxes, county and district sales tax, district alcohol tax and city appropriations to fund a variety of things: additional teachers and staff, transportation, construction and renovation projects, athletics, technology initiatives, school safety and implementation of state standards (professional development and textbooks). The school system is expected to receive $4,190,515.00 in local revenues for FY 2027.
In other action from the Sept. 8 meeting, the Financial Report for August 2026 was approved. Payroll totaled $991,544.95, and accounts payable totaled $555,000.17.
• The 26-27 Five-Year Capital Plan was approved.
• The board approved the TCS Health Services manual 2026, an update to the Medication Policy and the TCS Cardiac Emergency Response Plan (CERP).
