The indoor masking policy for the Thomasville City Schools District will transition for “Mask Mandated” to “Mask Preferred,” beginning Nov. 1, said Garth Moss, Thomasville city school superintendent.

Moss spoke to the Thomasville City Board of Education Oct. 26 at its meeting in the Thomasville High School Library.
Due to the decrease in the numbers of school employees and students who are Coronavirus positive or have possibly been exposed to the virus, masks will now be optional inside facilities throughout the school system.
Due to federal guidelines for public transportation, mask/facial coverings will continue to be required while students are transported on the school bus.
In other action from the Oct. 26 meeting, the school system will provide up to 10 days of paid COVID-19 administrative leave for all school employees under specific guidelines.
• Moss thanked members of the Thomasville Elementary School and THS PTOs and the Thomasville Middle School PTSO for “the tremendous job” they are doing this school year.

• Board member Jim Davis was chosen as the delegate for the 2021 Alabama Association of School Boards (AASB) Delegate Assembly, which will be held Dec. 2-4 in Birmingham.
