Thomasville City Board of Education 12-14-2021

The Thomasville City Board of Education approved Dec. 14 a one-time pay incentive for all employees in the amount of $250.00 for their continued work while going above and beyond their normal duties during the COVID crisis.

The board meeting was held in the Thomasville High School library.
In other action from the Dec. 14 meeting, two financial reports were approved.
In the October 2021 report, payroll totaled $890,740.48, and accounts payable totaled $206,569.23.
In the November 2021 report, payroll totaled $892,446.60, and accounts payable totaled $418, 726.97.

The board approved the Thomasville City Schools Textbook Committee for the 2021-2022 school year.
A change was approved to board policy: Human Resources: Substitute Teachers - 6.20. There will be a change to the age requirement for substitutes teaching in grades kindergarten to six. Substitute teachers will be changed to at least 19-years-old.
The substitute teacher age limit for grades seven to 12 will remain at 21-years-old.
A pay increase was approved for substitute teacher/support staff. The pay rate will increase from $56.19-per-day to $70-per-day, effective Jan. 1, 2022.
An executive session concerning litigation was held at the end of the board meeting. Board members met with board attorney Martin Pearson. No action was taken after the meeting.
The THS mid-year graduation will be held at 6 p.m. on Jan. 25, 2022, at the Thomasville Civic Center. There will also be a 5 p.m. school board meeting before the graduation at the Civic Center.
Board members will be interviewed for Cognia accreditation via Zoom on March 7.
The Child Nutrition Program (CNP) has received a $70,000 “No Kid Hungry” grant to fund the replacement of a food serving line equipment.
