Thomasville City Schools received high marks from COGNIA, a global network of educators, in its final report of the 2022 Accreditation Engagement Review.

COGNIA evaluated the district's adherence to rigorous performance standards focusing on three main areas: Leadership Capacity, Learning Capacity and Resource Capacity. These standards aim to ensure students are provided with high quality learning opportunities and that procedures are in place to maintain continuous improvement.
The COGNIA team virtually visited the district from March 6-9, 2022 and conducted numerous interviews with system stakeholders including parents, students, teachers and school board members. The visiting team also analyzed comprehensive performance data and supporting documentation.
COGNIA’S final report details the District’s effectiveness on each of the performance standards. It shows Thomasville City Schools:
• Earned an overall Index of Education Quality (IEQ) score of 312.42 which is significantly higher than the average scoring range of all institutions accredited (278.34-283.33) and is 37 points higher than the previous review held in April of 2017.
• Received the two highest rating levels (Improving and Impacting) for 30 of the 31 areas scored.
Additionally, the review team, which was led by Dr. Steve Oborn, was impressed with the system’s commitment to provide equitable opportunities through the deployment of fiscal and academic resources that allows all students to achieve their goals.
"The final report validates the efforts of all Thomasville City School employees - our teachers, administrators and staff- for providing our students with unique, supportive equitable learning opportunities," said Thomasville City School Superintendent Garth Moss. “The results will provide our system with guidance on our continuous improvement journey and reinforce our efforts to provide equitable learning opportunities for all students."
