Update: Buford attended the special called meeting of the board on May 25.
At the May 23 meeting of the Thomasville City Board of Education, board member Sharon Buford said that meeting would be her last.
She has been a member of the Thomasville City Board of Education since 2008.
“To the community of Thomasville, thank you for your support, while I was on the board,” she said. “…There are some in the community that do not want me to serve anymore. This is my last board meeting – so I wish the board well, and I wish the school well. I do want to thank everyone that supported me.
"The children need to come first at this school system, and I pray daily for the school system. And I will always be an advocate for the students of Thomasville City Schools and the Thomasville community.”
