Kimberlee Harrell, a kindergarten teacher at Thomasville Elementary School, has received a $3,500 Alabama Math, Science and Technology Initiative (AMSTI) Robotics Grant from the Alabama Department of Education. This grant was written to help fulfill the requirements of the new Elementary Computer Science Standards that were created in compliance with Gov. Kay Ivey's Computer Science for Alabama (CS4AL) Initiative. CS4AL was designed to insure that all Alabama students have the opportunity to learn computer science. This $3,500 grant will be used to purchase 30 Bee-Bots and charging decks, six Command Card Decks, one Shape, Color, & Size Mat, & one Alphabet Mat (with Alphabet Cards). The Bee-Bots are designed to help students learn to code and will be used in Thomasville Elementary School's Kindergarten, First, and Second-grade classrooms.
